An icon of the 1990s, Casio was one of the first companies to successfully brand itself in the youth market, becoming a symbol of the link between fashion, music and sports. One of its most popular models, the G-Shock, has endured the test of time and can still be seen on the wrists of cool young teenagers all over the world. In fact, Japanese retailer atmos has just teamed up with Casio to collaborate on a special edition G-Shock DW-6900 model. Priced at ¥18,900 (approximately $230 USD), the watch will be available for purchase exclusively through atmos starting in August.

Casio G-Shock presents its new collaboration with Craig Costello, aka KR, founder of KRINK. Unsatisfied with existing commercial art products and tools, KR revolutionized the art supply market by hand-making his own inks and markers and offering them to artists worldwide. G-Shock has been an avid supporter of underground culture, so it was only fitting that they would join forces to create a collaborative timepiece, the DW6900KR-8. Staying true to the G-Shock toughness and technology, the DW6900KR-8 carries the tradition of KRINK’s minimalist design aesthetic, featuring a metallic matte silver finish and for the first time in G-Shock history, the watch will bare a full mirror face and LCD display. Craig also omitted all technical type from the inner ring on the face of the watch, making this piece the cleanest look G-Shock has ever produced. The timepiece is now available through select retail boutiques ($110 USD), with further information here.

Dickies x Casio G-Shock DW6900

Long established American workwear label Dickies is the latest brand to collaborate with Casio to design a G-Shock watch. Since 1918 Dickies have strived to produce tough, durable products, making them a more obvious choice for the almost-indestructible G-shock than it would first appear. Utilising their brand logo, Dickies have opted to use bold tones of the primary colors. As with each DW6900 collaboration, the backlight displays the designing brand’s logo. Fans can expect a global release in mid-December, with nano universe carrying the product exclusively for Japan.

Casio has once again combined with Japanese anime franchise Evangelion to produce an outlandish G-SHOCK watch. The pair have again chosen to work on the popular GA-110 model but have this time opted for a more intricate colorway. Decorated with various bright colors, the watch face is complex and futuristic; featuring all the usual technical aspects enjoyed by the GA-110. Expect a release soon from SYNDICATED

Dee & Ricky, the New York based fashion design duo, have lent their trademark retro style to the latest edition to the G-Shock Family, the GA110DR-1A. This limited edition chronograph perfectly pairs an extra-large analog/digital with the Dee & Ricky design sensibility seen on fashion runways and metropolitan sidewalks worldwide. Available in July 2010, the GA100DR-1A will retail for $130 at select retailers.

The GA110DR-1A uses rudimentary building blocks as a starting point, the design draws on primary colors to mimic the appearance of a toy watch. Like the duo’s signature Lego®-based designs, all the details pop against the black backdrop. A never seen G-Shock technique combines contrasting LCDs, gear-shaped hands and other parts to create a distinct multidimensional effect exclusive to the GA110DR-1A. To further customize the timepiece, the Dee & Ricky logo appears on the band and the engraved backcase features the Dee & Ricky caricature.
“Better watch us like this Dee & Ricky G-Shock,” said Dee and Ricky Jackson.
“G-Shock is pleased to collaborate with the fashion brand, Dee & Ricky,” said Shigenori Itoh, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “As the first brand to customize the new G-Shock GA110 model, Dee & Ricky create a fusion of cutting edge G-Shock technology and fashion-forward style that will surely make this watch a collectors’ item.”
Remaining rooted in G-Shock technology, the Dee & Ricky X G-Shock is JIS Class Level I magnetic resistant to protect against the effects of magnetic fields often found in airport metal detectors. Additional GA110 features include shock resistance, 200M water resistance, Auto LED Light with Afterglow, 48 City World Time, 1/1000th Stopwatch with speed indicator, and 4 Daily Alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, Auto Calendar and Hourly Time Signal.
